La Fab closed for repairs
Many of you are aware that La Fab building has been damaged by water after some of the radiators cracked during the Christmas week “deep freeze”. Insurance firms are performing due diligence, and your Board of Directors will have more news regarding the situation before long, we hope.
Fortunately, the artworks were quickly secured, so that the damage affects practically only the premises.
However, the members’ Christmas show was closed early, and all artists have picked up their work. All art in the Boutique was also secured, but as a precaution due to the cleanup and repairs which will take place before long, all artists who have work there will be asked to pick it up during the week of January 22. A separate message will be sent to them in this regard.
Also because of this ongoing situation, artists who were to exhibit in the first few months (February through April inclusive) of 2018 have very kindly agreed to postpone their shows until 2019.
Tenants are temporarily “on hold” regarding returning to their studios, but it is our understanding that before long they will indeed be able to return to work.
However? We are “turning lemons into lemonade” – as you may imagine. The Boutique Committee is using this opportunity to renew the inventory and implement the Square system. The Communication Committee will work on a new website. The Gallery Committee will launch its new programming. And all of us are excited about planning a “Grand Re-Opening” of La Fab.
The Board thanks each and every one of you for your understanding during this challenging time and welcomes your questions. Rest assured that we are working very hard along with the representatives from the Church and the Insurance companies to re-open La Fab at the earliest possible time.
Take heart – and watch this space for news!
